Kristine Nemec is the program manager for county roadside vegetation programs, providing training and education for Iowa's county roadside programs and conducting outreach to raise awareness of the value of these programs. Previously she worked for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Omaha, Nebraska, where she was an ecosystem restoration planner, and the U.S.D.A. Agricultural Research Service in Brookings, South Dakota, where she researched pollinator diversity in biofuel oilseed crops. She received a BS in Environmental Studies and an MA in Biology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a PhD in Natural Resource Sciences from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. When not working, she enjoys cycling, walking her rescue dog, reading, and learning languages.
