If you love being outdoors and want to gain valuable hands-on experience at a nationally recognized center, consider serving as a Green Iowa AmeriCorps member at the Tallgrass Prairie Center. Previous TPC AmeriCorps members have gone on to graduate school and positions in private industry, the federal government, and nonprofit organizations across the U.S.
We typically fill our summer (early June – mid- to late August) and 11-month (October – August) positions early in the year. The descriptions of these positions and benefits are provided below. Check the Green Iowa AmeriCorps website to see if applications are currently open for these positions or fill out the contact form linked to above to be notified when applications are being accepted (usually starting in February–March).
This position will allow members to learn and expand on their skills and abilities in the field of ecological restoration. Members will assist TPC staff with fieldwork such as maintaining prairie seed production plots and recording information about plant establishment on farms.
Consider serving 11 months at the Tallgrass Prairie Center. We are looking for members who are passionate about environmental conservation and also want to apply and/or expand their skills in 1) mass communications, marketing and networking or 2) natural areas management.
