Prairie Open House/Tours
Guides: Jon Kraus, Natural Resources Technician with Winneshiek County Conservation; Jerri Osenga, the heart and volunteer leader of the Community Butterfly Garden from 2012 to 2018
Groups will form to tour the Butterfly Garden and larger prairie.
Directions to the Community Prairie and Butterfly Garden: From 5th Avenue (which can be accessed by Pulpit Rock Road or College Drive), go south on Ohio Street until you reach the gravel drive that does up and over the dike to the parking lot by the butterfly garden. FOR MAPPING PURPOSES: Enter the address to Aase Haugen Homes (104 Ohio Street), which is the closest neighbor.
Throughout 2020, Decorah Parks and Recreation is hosting a series of presentations about prairies in general and specifically about the Decorah Community Prairie. Seminars will be led by experts in their fields.
