Saturday, September 30, 2017 - 9:00am to 1:00pm
Hickory Hill Park, 1439 Bloomington Street, Iowa City, Iowa (South Entrance)

As invasive species crowd out vital native plants, it’s more important than ever to manage your backyard forest. Join the experts to learn about how you can improve native habitat in your woodland. Learn land management techniques, become an advocate for healthy forests, and polish your skills to be a better environmental steward of the land.

TOPICS:
How to establish native habitat in your backyard forest.
What invasive plants are unhealthy for your woodland.
Best management practices to combat invasive plants.
The basics of prescribed burning.
How volunteers are helping to manage invasive species.

NOTES:

This is an outdoor event, rain or shine. Please be sure to dress appropriately for the outdoors. Comfortable shoes are suggested, as there will be short distances to walk on various trail surfaces (paved, gravel, dirt, etc.) between the rotating presentation stations. If you would like to sit at the various stations, please feel free to bring along a bag chair to carry with you.
An email containing information on parking and directions to the location will be sent to all registrants two days prior to the event.

This event is FREE! However, we require an RSVP to help us plan for snacks and beverages.

Please register by September 27.  If you have any additional questions, please contact Carl Barnhart at 319-440-7529.
